Champéry & the surrounding area

Sport, charm and authenticity

Three words which perfectly sum up Champéry. In the summer, a little village in the Valais region of Switzerland, and in the wintera major ski resort set 1050 meters above sea-level at the foot of the Dents-du-Midi and Dents-Blanches mountains. Champéry is right next-door to the renowned Portes-du-Soleil ski resort, and just a short drive from AVORIAZ, offering visitors a wealth of activities to enjoy.

This huge area is one of the biggest ski and mountain-biking resorts in the world and forms part of the Mont-Blanc sphere. Champéry is a typical mountain village of the Valais region with a history of Swiss tourism that goes back over 150 years.

In winter, the Grand Paradis tour...and the Dents-du-Midi

It takes a matter of minutes to travel on the cable car from the village centre to the ski slopes in Champéry-Les Crosets.

In summer, hiking, climbing, via ferrata, canyoning, mountain biking in the area "Bikepark.ch" are popular activities for visitors.

Champéry is also host to a number of festivals including musical events of Champéry and the «Maxi Rires» comedy festival.

Finally in Champéry, all those who love the great outdoors and sports will find ideal conditions and infinite opportunities to satisfy their passions, while food-lovers can unwind in a setting where life is good.

An exceptional hospitality experience

The local «boirons» and Swiss chalets with their imposing facades, actually hide a wealth of traditional and modern mountain decor. A quiet, exclusive location which attracts wealthier visitors who enjoy the quiet simplicity. In Champéry you will find modesty, respect and discretion.

The traditional architecture has a special charm. The chalets which line the unique main street are typical of the Val d'Illiez area of the Valais region, with carved wooden balconies and over-hanging roofs which make this a perfectly preserved site. Although traditionally a farming area, it has been attracting tourists since 1857, making Champéry one of the oldest tourist sites in Switzerland.
